South Carolina versus Brown - The Series
Advertisement
* The Gamecocks lead the overall series 8-0.
* The first meeting between the two teams came in 1967 while the last meeting took place in 2010.
* Carolina swept Brown in 2010 by the scores of 8-4, 10-7 and 6-5 (10). The first two games were played as a double header on Saturday. The Friday night game was postponed due to rain.
Last Weekend
* The Gamecocks swept Clemson in a three game series. USC and Clemson started the one-one-one format in 2010. It was the first time that one of the teams swept the series in that format.
* The last time that one of the teams swept the series was in 2008 when USC took all four games. That season two games were played in Columbia and two in Clemson.
Familiar Scores Against the Tigers
* Carolina defeated Clemson 9-6 on Friday, February 28. USC also defeated the Tigers 9-6 on Saturday, March 3, 2012 in Columbia.
* On Saturday, USC defeated the Tigers 10-2. My first thought about it being 10-2 reminded me of the 2002 game in Omaha. Carolina eliminated Clemson from the College World Series with a 10-2 victory on June 21st. The win over the Tigers put the Gamecocks in the Championship Game against Texas.
Extra Base Hits
In Wednesday's game against Stetson, the Gamecocks did not have an extra base hit. It was the second time this season that the Gamecocks failed to have at least one extra base hit in a game. USC did not have one in the Saturday game against Clemson in Greenville.
