The Gamecock baseball program is the proud owner of some fresh and updated digs.

The team's new players' lounge was unveiled Thursday on the team's social media accounts, showcasing different pieces of the new space for players to spend their down time.

The undertaking was started last year and finally finished this semester.

It's equipped with couches, tables, a ping pong table, TVs and a few video game systems. Players will be able to rest and relax in there when they're not playing or working out at Founders Park.

There is also a section detailing former players who have played in the major leagues and the six currently in "The Show" now: Jordan Montgomery, Steve Pearce, Justin Smoak, Jackie Bradley Jr., Sam Dyson and Whit Merrifield.

Team helmets and cleats are also on display in neatly lit boxes along the wall.

The lounge is right next to the team's clubhouse and was converted from the old media room to the state-of-the art area. The media room moves upstairs to the second level of Founders Park and will also be used as a team meeting space.

The Gamecocks started individual workouts at the end of August and fall practice starts next week with the first scrimmage scheduled for Sept. 15.

Mark Kingston is in his first year as head coach of the Gamecocks as well, and he and the first team he coaches will be the inaugural users of this room.
