A couple of states that are not fertile recruiting ground for South Carolina football have produced two of the program's recent verbal commitments. First it was Missouri tight end Kyle Markway, and now Louisiana's Jozie Milton.
South Carolina defensive line coach Deke Adams offered the 6-foot-2, 290-pounder Milton back in February and took the lead on his recruitment. Adams and Gamecock offensive line coach Shawn Elliott traveled to Louisiana to check in on Milton on Friday, and the three-star lineman made the decision around that time to publicly commit to USC.
Although ranked by Rivals.com as a defensive tackle, Milton is on South Carolina's board as an offensive center. During the recruiting process, he drew over 20 scholarship offers from the likes of Arkansas, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas Tech, West Virginia, and many others.
Milton has not yet visited South Carolina but that visit should take place this summer.
"They've been pretty good lately. They've had some crazy standout years lately," Milton told GamecockCentral.com of his interest in USC back in February. "Obviously, they have a great coaching staff. That's always a good thing."
