Groveland (FL) South Lake linebacker Jordan Montgomery has been on the verge of committing to South Carolina for a while now, and his pledge went public on Saturday.

"They were kind of expecting it to happen today because I let them know ahead of time," Montgomery said.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pounder believes he will enjoy playing under Ellis Johnson in South Carolina's defense.
"I chose South Carolina because of the defensive scheme," he said. "It really fits my style of play. I think I will have a chance to come in early and compete for playing time."
While Montgomery could certainly grow into a true linebacker position, there is one USC's staff believes he could start out at when he arrives in Columbia.
"They like me at the SPUR linebacker position," he said. "I feel like that position was made to fit my talents."
The Sunshine State native talked about his Gamecock recruiter.
"He's a cool guy," he said. "We get along well. He's close to my family."
Montgomery, who chose USC over offers from Arkansas, Iowa State, Ole Miss, and UCF, is 100% solid to USC.
"I'm not planning on taking any more visits," he said. "I want to help recruit players to South Carolina."
