D.J. Wonnum will take another step toward full participation next week.

The junior lineman, who's expected to miss a month with an ankle injury, is going through rehab now. He will meet with doctors next week to see how much longer he'll be out this year, but early returns are positive.

"It's going well," Will Muschamp said on his weekly call-in show. "They're very pleased with where he is in terms of where the rehab is going. They're going to check him out next week with the foot doctor and see where things go."

Wonnum missed the Georgia game and would have missed the now-canceled Marshall game with ligament damage in his ankle. Muschamp said after the Gamecocks' loss to Georgia that Wonnum would miss a month recovering from that injury.

The BUCK lineman left the second half of the Gamecocks' season opener against Coastal Carolina and did not return.

He sat out the Georgia game with a boot on his foot and moving around on a scooter.

Muschamp also said Mon Denson (hamstring) and Chavis Dawkins (ankle) are expected to play this weekend against Vanderbilt.
