Muschamp press conference recap

South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp met with the media Tuesday to preview the Kentucky game.

Here are quick notes from Muschamp:

** Expect Deebo Samuel to play, but they're not going to put him out there if it's going to risk more injury. It's a problem that's plagued him for a while and they're continuing to do research on why it's happening.

** Antoine Wilder has done some good things on special teams to earn the trust of the staff which helped him get the opportunity he did last week. Wilder is a physical player who made a great play on the goal line. Took advantage of it.

** David Williams ran as hard as he has since Muschamp has been there. But you can't be a one-hit wonder. Have to keep it up.

** Chris Moody is a bright kid. That's allowed him to pick up the defense and help at multiple positions.

** The hardest part about being a defensive coach is that the other team's scheme changes each week. There's a lot of carry-over from ECU to Kentucky in this case. But a lot of weeks defensive players have to completely scrap things from the week before.

** Really proud of Darius English. He's had a great camp and has done a good job the first three games. He doesn't say much but he practices very hard and has been very coachable

.** Steven Montac is a bright kid with a good feel for the game. He's come in and watched film his own. He asks the right questions and understands ball. Proud of how he played. There are some things to clean up, but he's doing well.

** Skai Moore was cleared early last week to run and to lift weight.

** The kickoff return was good. Kickoff coverage has been solid. Still need to get better and need to improve team speed. Punt coverage was good. Didn't get any opportunities on punt return. It's a work in progress. Some young guys had key blocks on the big kickoff.

** Have great respect for Mark Stoops. They've shared football knowledge at previous stops. Stoops coaches the game the right way.

** Had a good practice today. They guys have prepared the right way.

** How would Muschamp handle a player dropping the ball before he got to the end zone. "Not good." Have had enough trouble getting there, Muschamp says, don't need to drop it.

** Getting redshirted is not a bad thing for a freshman. Players will be better as a 5th year player and a true freshman, but can't always redshirt.

** Working to get Larenz Bryant back. He ran at practice with the injured group. Hoping to get him back in the next couple weeks. Are not looking at redshirting Bryant.
