Cornelius (N.C.) Hough class of 2019 wide receiver Nolan Groulx visited South Carolina for the first time on Tuesday and left campus with an offer from the Gamecocks in tow.

"It was awesome, honestly," Groulx said. "The receivers coach, Coach B Mac (Bryan McClendon), really showed interest in me. He really wanted to get to know me and I sat down and had a talk with him for about 45 minutes. Just the fact that they brought me into Coach Muschamp's office, just so he could offer me. They're all about me getting to work with them. They want me to come to camp and work with Coach B Mac."

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound Groulx, who now has seven offers to his name, is being recruited to Carolina by running backs coach Bobby Bentley.

"I went to lunch with Coach Bentley and that went well," Groulx said. "All the love they showed me as a coaching staff, I thought it went really well. Also all of the facilities stood out. They're building a new [football ops] facility when the 2019 class would come into South Carolina. I'm looking forward to seeing that. The coaches' relationship and that it's close to home is really what hit home to me."

Groulx also enjoyed the opportunity to sit down with Will Muschamp.

"He said that they wanted to use me in the slot, but also that they could use me outside," Groulx said. "He was telling me about the program and their plans and I totally believe it with him there. He was all about work. I could tell that he's doing some good things over there."

Groulx also holds offers from N.C. State, West Virginia, Wake Forest, Elon and James Madison. Penn State, where he will visit soon, Wisconsin and Virginia Tech are other programs that are showing strong signs of offering soon.

What will he be looking for in a school?

"The area around the campus, because I want to see myself in the campus and calling that place home, so my love for the campus would definitely be one," Groulx said. "And a top thing for me would be the relationship with the coaches and just how much interest they have in me. I'm going to be spending a lot of time with my position coach in college, obviously, so it would definitely be the relationship I have with him.

"I've been to a couple of colleges and they talk about how it's a family atmosphere and that's kind of what I have with my high school team, so I'm looking forward to having that in college. So if I just feel that they have a family atmosphere and they're doing things together as a team will definitely be a factor for me."

Groulx caught 108 passes for 1,853 yards and 24 touchdowns (31 total) at Davidson (N.C.) Day this past fall. Groulx and several other teammates recently transferred to Hough, where he will play his next two seasons.

Groulx says his recruitment is wide open and he wants to make a decision before his senior season.
