Owens is a Gamecock

On November 12, Griffin (Georgia) wide receiver Christian Owens parted ways with his verbal commitment to UGA. The 6-foot-5, 205-pounder was Georgia's first pledge in the 2015 class, also drawing offers from Clemson, Louisville, North Carolina, and Tennessee early in the recruiting process.

South Carolina immediately swooped in on Owens; defensive coordinator Lorenzo Ward has a connection to Owens' high school coach and special teams coordinator Joe Robinson is the area recruiter for the four-star prospect.
Despite releasing a statement on November 12 saying that he would be enrolling at South Carolina, Owens told GamecockCentral.com shortly afterward that he planned to wait until his official visit to Columbia to put his name on the Gamecocks' commitment list. That official visit took place this weekend, wrapping up on Sunday afternoon. As expected Owens became an addition to USC's 2015 class.
Owens is the twenty-seventh verbal commitment in the 2015 class for Steve Spurrier's Gamecocks. He is the fourteenth prospect ranked as a four-star prospect by Rivals.com in the group.
