Peach State athlete gunning for Gamecock offer

Lincolnton (Ga.) Lincoln County athlete Darell Norman has three scholarship offers on the table, and hopes to see that number increase after this weekend.
"I have offers from Cincinnati, Troy State and Ball State right now," the 5-foot-11, 190-pound Norman said. "South Carolina has talked to me about offering, and I'm going to their camp this Sunday to work out for them. I'm also hearing from Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Clemson and Florida State."

Norman, who rushed for over 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns as a junior, likes the idea of playing in the Gamecocks' offense.
"I haven't seen their campus yet, but I really like Steve Spurrier's offense. It's the kind of offense I'd like to play in. I'm hoping they offer me this weekend."
Florida and Georgia also rate highly on Norman's list.
"Florida is a good program, and they run a good offense. Georgia is my home-state school, and I've been a Bulldog fan for a while now. It's a good school and a nice campus."
Norman, who also plays wide receiver and free safety for his high school team, will choose his school based on multiple aspects of each program.
"Academics are important to me and so are graduation rates," he said. "I'll look at the facilities and just how good each program is. Mainly I'm just looking for a chance to play big-time football. Wherever I can go make an impact."
Three teams currently stand out the most to Norman.
"South Carolina, Georgia and Florida State is my top three. I like all three about the same."
