Rolin commits

South Carolina's coaching staff helped fill a big need in the 2013 class on Friday when Ashburn (Va.) Briar Woods' Matt Rolin decided to end the process and become a Gamecock.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder picked USC over an impressive list of offers from the likes of Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, and a host of others.
Rolin has extensive family ties to South Carolina; his parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles all graduated from the school and several family members still reside in or near Columbia.
The three-star linebacker and his family visited USC beginning Friday morning for an unofficial visit. He picked up an offer from USC back in the spring while on campus. The Gamecocks initially offered as a tight end, but shortly after told Rolin he could get a look at that position or linebacker in Columbia. He projects to play linebacker for the Gamecocks.
Rolin is commitment number 13 in the 2013 recruiting class for USC. He was recruited to Columbia by offensive line coach Shawn Elliott, who now holds four commitments in the class.
