What I like: Based on my observations, Hutcherson is a prospect who will be given looks on both sides of the football in college. As an offensive lineman, he shows good quickness and athleticism, and wins as an effort blocker. Hutcherson consistently finishes off his blocks and works until the whistle blows. On the defensive side of the ball, he best projects as a defensive end in 4-3 front. He has long arms and knows how to fight off blockers with his hands – a skill that is developed in part from his experience as an offensive lineman.

Instant impact? Regardless of which side of the football Gamecock coaches want him to play on - I believe Hutcherson would greatly benefit from a redshirt season to further develop physically. Although he may have the size of a defensive end, Hutcherson’s highest ceiling may be as a an offensive lineman – which is what he’s currently listed as on Rivals.

Rivals rating: Based on my observations of how Rivals rates other prospects of the same position, I would have Hutcherson rated as a 5.5 three-star. That rating is still considered to be good, but I have him lower than Rivals because I believe he will need a good amount of time to develop into a solid contributor as an offensive tackle.
