South Carolina has landed one of their biggest targets in the 2011 recruiting class as Goose Creek (SC) four-star offensive tackle Brandon Shell has made his pledge to the Gamecocks.
The 6-foot-7, 290-pounder had a final group of Alabama, Clemson, Georgia, Miami, and South Carolina, with the Gamecocks holding a long-time edge.
Shell is ranked as the 81st-best prospect in the country regardless of position by Rivals.com and the 10th-best offensive tackle prospect in the country.
The Palmetto State prospect has a great chance to make an immediate impact along the offensive front for the Gamecocks, as USC will head into the 2011 season with a lack of proven depth at the tackle position.
Shell was recruited to South Carolina by wide receivers coach Steve Spurrier, Jr. and offensive line coach Shawn Elliott.
