Gamecocks commit Traevon Kenion selected to all-star game

Wake Forest (N.C.) class of 2019 four-star tight end Traevon Kenion, a South Carolina commiit, has been selected to the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl, the game announced Wednesday.

The 6-foot-4, 212-pounder chose South Carolina in late April over offers from Duke, East Carolina, Kansas State, Louisville, Maryland, North Carolina, N.C. State and Wake Forest.

Kenion was recruited to South Carolina by running backs coach Bobby Bentley and tight ends coach Pat Washington.

"I felt like I was ready," Kenion said. "I was ready to make my decision, I knew where I wanted to be at and the type of environment I was looking for. South Carolina fit. Off the field, one, it's not that far from my home. Two, the coach there is real. He's an amazing coach. I can see myself playing there."

Rivals.com ranks Kenion as the No. 18 tight end in the country in his class and the No. 14 prospect in the state of North Carolina.

The Blue-Grey game is scheduled for January 5, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. EST on ESPN3 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Raymond James Stadium.
