Staley inks another

South Carolina head women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley announced that Victoria Patrick (Orlando, Fla.) has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University and play for the Gamecocks. Patrick will have four years of eligibility beginning with the 2016-17 academic year.

“We are so excited Victoria has decided to join our Gamecock family,” Staley said. “She has a very good basketball IQ, and her ability to stretch the floor fills an immediate need of ours.”

Ranked the No. 25 guard in the class, Patrick is a two-time state champion out of Edgewater High. Averaging a team-high 15.8 points as a senior, she helped her team to the 2016 State semifinals and earned First-Team All-Metro West and All-Area honors from the Orlando Sentinel. Patrick scored 20 or more points in six games last season.

Patrick is the third signee for Staley’s 2016 class, Araion Bradshaw of Hyde Park, Mass., and Mikiah Harrigan of Pembroke Pines, Fla.
