South Carolina's longest-tenured support staff member is leaving the program, posting a goodbye message on social media Wednesday afternoon.

Stuart Lake won't be with the program when the team reconvenes in August, ending his second stint with the program he spent his life rooting for.

Lake, who was originally with the team in the late 1990s and early 2000s, was part of the Gamecocks' 2002 College World Series team and again starting in 2017 until the end of the 2021 season.

He served this time as the team's volunteer assistant and camp coordinator and later as the team's hitting coach in 2020 and 2021.

Lake hasn't made public yet what his next steps will be, but he's made coaching stops at Ole Miss, College of Charleston and as the head coach at Charleston Southern.
