Jackson posted the following to his Instagram social media account earlier today:
"To start this off, I've been experienced hard times since I've arrived to college but always managed to see through. I appreciate all of the support from my family, friends and teammates. Without you guys especially my teammates I wouldn't have gotten this far. The decision was made based on my future and what will come. I have been medically disqualified to play football again due to my sickle cell but USC is still honoring my scholarship and I'll finish school with a degree. I think everyone and keep me in your prayers. Spurs Up"

Jackson, a product of Rickards High in Tallahassee, Florida, signed with the Gamecocks in the 2017 recruiting class. He was ranked by Rivals.com as a three-star prospect. Jackson missed all of the 2017 season due to a hamstring injury, but was looking to get on the field in 2018 as a candidate at nickel or safety.
GamecockCentral.com confirmed that Jackson will be going on medical hardship scholarship and will continue to work towards completion of his degree in integrated information technology.
