South Carolina has landed the program's third verbal commitment of the 2013 class.
Goose Creek (S.C.) four-star linebacker Gerald Turner gave his commitment to the USC staff today after returning home from a visit to Columbia.

The 6-foot-1, 235-pounder selected the Gamecocks over offers from Clemson and North Carolina. The USC staff plans on using him in a role similar to Eric Norwood, as a defensive end capable of standing up and dropping back into coverage or rushing the passer.
The pledge is the second in-state commitment for USC's staff. Wide receivers coach Steve Spurrier Jr. is the lead recruiter for Turner and defensive line coach Brad Lawing also assisted in the recruitment.
During his junior season, Turner tallied 42 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, nine sacks, six forced fumbles, five pass breakups, and five blocked punts. He also intercepted a pass and returned it 80 yards for a touchdown and recovered a blocked punt for a touchdown.
