USC drops to No. 5 in poll

South Carolina (26-5, 7-5) dropped to No. 5 in the Baseball America rankings released today after losing two of three games in Fayetteville to Arkansas and defeating Appalachian Stat 2-1 last Tuesday to go 2-2 on the week.
In the Perfect Game USA poll, the Gamecocks are ranked No. 5.

Before the weekend Arkansas was unranked by Baseball America and by Perfect Game USA. The Razorbacks remained unranked by Baseball America but appeared at No. 24 in Perfect Game USA.
Previous Gamecock opponents who are ranked in the Baseball America poll include No. 19 Ole Miss, No. 12 Kentucky and No. 14 Clemson.
South Carolina plays Furman tomorrow at 7 p.m. at Fluor Field in Greenville before hosting No. 15 Florida for a three-game series beginning Friday at 7 p.m.
