USC first to offer Georgia DE

Hawkinsville (Ga.) defensive end Sa'Coby Carter turned in a very solid performance at the Athens, Ga., NIKE Camp earlier this month and has seen the attention he's receiving from schools increase.
"At the Athens NIKE Camp, I had a 72.06 SPARQ rating," Carter said. "I have added some weight, so my forty time slowed down, but overall, I think I did pretty good. My measurements were 6-foot-2 and 240-pounds, I ran a 4.8 in the forty, a 4.41 in the shuttle, had a 27.9 vertical jump, and I benched 185-pounds 27 times."

Carter, who racked up over 30 tackles and 10 sacks as a junior, also picked his first scholarship offer late last week.
"Coach (Dave) Wommack (from South Carolina) was at Hawkinsville Friday and he offered me a scholarship. He told me they like me as a defensive end. Coach Wommack said that they have some good defensive linemen now, but they want some great ones."
The offer caught Carter off guard but still had a major impact on him.
"This is my first offer, and I was very surprised. South Carolina hadn't even been recruiting me, so it kind of popped up out of nowhere. This offer puts South Carolina number one on my list. They are the first school to offer me, so I really like that."
Carter plans to be patient with the process before making a decision.
"I also like Florida, Georgia Tech, and Maryland. All of those schools are recruiting me hard. I plan on taking all my visits and seeing what offers come in before committing anywhere."
