WBB: Staley lands five-star forward

Bradenton (Fla.) Lakewood forward LaDazhia Williams committed to South Carolina women's basketball coach Dawn Staley Sunday afternoon, according to a post on Williams' Twitter.

Williams, ranked the No. 47 overall prospect and No. 12 forward in the 2017 class by ESPN.com, visited South Carolina this weekend.

The 6-foot-2 Williams chose the Gamecocks over offers from Florida State, Miami, North Carolina, LSU, Louisville, Texas A&M, Ohio State, UCF and USF.

An evaluation on Williams' ESPN.com profile reads: "Agile faceup-4 performer brings soft touch in key; interior footwork, draws contact, finishes with either hand in paint; mobile in uptempo game; plays long, defends out of area; an elite front court prospect in the class of 2017."

Williams is the third commit to South Carolina's 2017 class, joining Gadsden City (Ala.) guard Haley Troup and North Carolina forward Elisia Grissett.
