Transfer Portal

As we mentioned last week, most of the Transfer targets from the post-Spring practice period have landed in their spots, with the Gamecocks picking up a key cog in EDGE Jatius Geer, but missing out on both RB targets. That leaves a shaky situation in the RB room, with JuJu McDowell being the main returning back with any SEC game experience at the position. That said, the addition of freshman Dontavius Braswell and Newberry Transfer Mario Anderson, and the change of position by D.K. Joyner should at least give the Gamecocks enough depth at the position to run their schemes, even if perhaps none of those names are All-SEC candidates just yet. We've also heard some rumblings that true freshman Kam Sandlin, who was recruited as TE and played QB in HS, could at least get a little work in the RB rotation as well. With the elite receiving/tight ends the Gamecocks have, and the potential upside of Spencer Rattler, "just enough" from the RB position might be fine this year, but obviously, the room, in general, will need to turn over from here. We are still feeling good about 2024 RB Targets Daniel Hill and Matthew Fuller at the moment, and we think Braswell has all the tools to be an SEC running back once he joins the program this summer.

June OVs

Next month will be crucial in filling out the rest of the 2024 class, and figuring out if the early momentum from this winter will carry over to keep this class in the top 10 or so nationally. The first big weekend begins right out of the gates on June 2nd and the list of names is full of elite targets for the Gamecocks in the 2024 class. As always, you can check out the OV lists through this link, or by clicking the drop-down on the Gamecock Scoop homepage.

June 23rd

I'm not going to write out every name here because pretty much the entire verbally committed class will be on campus, but they'll be doing their best to reel in some of the biggest targets remaining in the 2024 class, so I'll focus on the uncommitted guys here.

4-star EDGE Dylan Stewart

4-star DT Jordan Thomas

4-star RB Daniel Hill

4-star WR Jonathan Paylor

DMV Connection

Despite the decommitment earlier this week of DMV OL Mike Williams from the 2024 class, the inroads the Gamecocks have made in the area surrounding D.C. are still going very strong. In addition to being 1a or 1b in the race for Dylan Stewart (depending on who you ask), the Gamecocks also made the top 6 for 6'6" D.C. EDGE Daniel "DD" Holmes who is rated as a 4-star and the #2 player in the District of Columbia for the 2024 class. The other schools in his top 6 were Florida State, Michigan, Maryland, Florida, and Rutgers.
