Chapin (S.C.) wide receiver/tight end Zavier Short has come to a decision between Appalachian State and South Carolina and will announce it on Tuesday at 6 p.m., he said Monday night.

"It's been fun, don't get me wrong there, but it's also been pretty difficult, it's a hard decision," Short said. "It's not just a four year decision, as people say, it's a 40 year decision. It's been a lot of thinking, a lot of talking with my family, but I think at the end of the day, whatever I choose, I'll be happy. I don't think there's a wrong choice.

"I think I'm there. Around 6 p.m. (Tuesday) is when I'm hoping to put out my final decision."

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Short committed to Appalachian State in September and is still committed to the Mountaineers now as he heads into his final decision before signing on Wednesday.

He described what he likes about the program.

"A lot of things, honestly," Short said. "The coaches are great guys; I love them all. It's a great place, a great football town, a great atmosphere at the games and everything. Just the guys there, they know how to win, they're a great team. So that kind of just gave me a no-doubter at the time, that that was the school I wanted to play at."

While Short was never one to go looking for another program, there was always one offer that was going to get him to at least re-think his commitment: South Carolina.

A couple of weeks ago, the Gamecocks offer came through as Shane Beamer and Erik Kimrey visited his school.

What does he like about South Carolina?

"Everything," Short said. "Ever since I moved here in fourth grade, it's really been my dream to play at South Carolina and wear the Garnet and Black. It's definitely a tough decision. I love all the coaches at South Carolina. I love how they do things with Beamer. They're definitely an up and coming program, very, very quickly.

"I love South Carolina just like App State; they're both great schools."

On Tuesday night at 6 p.m. he'll announce which one he'll be signing with on Wednesday.
