All business, Chapin's Hank Manos ready to compete at South Carolina

Wednesday was a special day for South Carolina offensive line commit Hank Manos.

Surrounded by his family, coaching staff and entire Chapin student body, the senior standout received his honorary Under Armour All-America Bowl jersey.

"It means a ton, definitely getting to represent the guys around here," Manos said. "I'm super thankful for all my teammates, all my coaches, and everybody for playing a huge role in all of this."

Chapin head coach Justin Gentry added: "Hank is the epitome of what a student-athlete should be. It's dedication on and off the field has helped him attain his highest goal, college football. The Chapin football family is very proud of him and can't wait to see what is in store."

Following his jersey presentation, Manos presented the entire Chapin football staff with the Dream Champion award, given to the people who have most helped him to reach his goals.

"This staff is amazing," Manos said. "I have a personal relationship with each and every one of them. Every one of them texts me, just talking about things going on in my life outside of football, outside of school. It's just amazing to have those kind of guys around me here supporting me and supporting these other kids. If anyone deserves it, it's them."

Manos, who also won a state championship in wrestling and had 65 pancakes on the football field this season, committed to South Carolina in March and will sign with the Gamecocks during the new December early signing period.

The 6-foot-4, 280-pound Manos has been to every Carolina home game this season and sees progress from his future teammates.

"I think that they've made a ton of progress, everywhere on the field actually, specifically on the offensive line," Manos said. "I've been watching them a lot and got to see them doing some things differently. I'm very excited for what Coach Wolf (Eric Wolford) is doing down there. He's definitely making an impact and I'm enjoying it."

Manos, ranked the No. 14 prospect in South Carolina by Rivals.com, realized his January enrollment at USC means less time for the fun that normally accompanies a high school student's senior year. But he's okay with that.

"It's all business," Manos said. "I had this conversation with my mom, whenever I decided to enroll early. It kind of shortens the time table. There's no time for fun, like a senior normally would have, so it's all business, working in the weight room, trying to get better."

"My goal is to go in there and fight," Manos added. "Fight for a spot, fight for every rep, that's how I hope to see it go down."

The 2018 Under Armour All-America Game will be played Jan. 4, 2018 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. The game will be broadcast on ESPN and practices will be aired on ESPNU.

Manos was also named to the 2017 Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas which takes place Saturday December 16 at 2:00 at Wofford College.
