What I like: Wonnum is a good athlete who displays excellent hand-eye coordination – which will help him develop his hand technique along the defensive front. Wonnum is aggressive in taking on blockers and understands how to free himself after first contact. His size indicates he will be used as pass rusher in 3-4 sets early in his career, but Wonnum could also develop into an every down end once he gains more weight. I also believe that, if needed, Wonnum could develop into a solid tight end, as well.
Instant impact? The Gamecocks need pass rushers and I expect Coach Muschamp to give Wonnum opportunities to show what he can do. I do believe, however, that Wonnum would benefit from a redshirt season to further develop physically, and in his positional skills.
Rivals rating: Even though Wonnum is on the low-end of the three-star spectrum, Rivals still considers him to have pro potential. I don’t have a problem with his rating.
