Doty, Brunson impress at Carolina Xposure camp

Myrtle Beach (S.C.) class of 2020 quarterback Luke Doty and Blythewood (S.C.) class of 2018 cornerback Jaydon Brunson were two of the more impressive performers at Saturday's Carolina Xposure camp in Mt. Holly, N.C.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Doty produced the most buzz among the other campers and coaches in attendance as he started the day by blazing a 4.47-second 40-yard day before edging out a win in the fastest man competition.

Doty's name has circulated on the recruiting radar since last summer after Coastal Carolina offered and South Carolina began making the dual-threat quarterback a major priority.

Doty's game has taken a major leap since then as he's fine-tuned his release, added muscle to his frame and displayed a consistently catchable ball and big arm.

Camp quarterback coach Ray Isaac, who named Doty the quarterback MVP, called him "special" and a future national recruit.

"I've been in the weight room a lot and studying film as much as I can and working on my mechanics," Doty said. "Other than that, we're just ready for a great season."

The 5-foot-9, 180-pound Brunson is starting to develop a reputation as one of the state of South Carolina's most underrated prospects.

Brunson, who clocked a 4.56-second 40-yard dash impressed camp defensive backs coach ChaChi Sullivan with his consistency on the day and took home the DB MVP award.

Brunson is a natural cover corner with the ability to naturally flip his hips in and out of breaks and strong ball skills.

Brunson is set to visit Georgia State on Sunday and previously visited South Carolina for one of the Gamecocks' spring practices.
