SOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCKS FOOTBALL

South Carolina's leading scorer has finally found a home in the NFL.

Former Gamecock kicker Elliott Fry signed a three-year contract Friday with the Chicago Bears, the team announced Friday.

This is the first long-term contract Fry's inked in the NFL after graduating in 2016.

Fry started his career at South Carolina as a walk-on, ultimately getting put on scholarship en route to becoming the program's all-time leading scorer with 359 points. He went 66-for-88 for his career and missed just one of his 162 extra points.

He didn't miss an extra point in any of his last three years on campus.

Most recently Fry played for the Alliance of American Football, playing on Steve Spurrier's Orlando Apollos before the league suspended operations a couple weeks ago.

There, he went a perfect 14-of-14, including hitting one 44-yarder.

He'll join recently signed kickers Redford Jones and Chris Blewitt in the kicking competition this season. Former Gamecock running back Mike Davis also signed with the Bears this offseason.

The Chicago Bears are coming off a playoff appearance last season where they went 12-4 and won the NFC North.
