It's that time of year again, and as usual, South Carolina women's basketball players were all over the SEC awards.
The conference officially released its regular season awards for the 2024-25 season on Tuesday morning, and five Gamecocks earned an honor.
MiLaysia Fulwiley headlined the group as the SEC's sixth woman of the year, given to the best player in the conference coming off the bench. Fulwiley is South Carolina's second-leading scorer, averaging 11.9 points per game along with 2.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.5 steals per game. She also earned a Second Team All-SEC spot, and is the third player in program history to win the sixth woman award, joining Alaina Coates and Kamilla Cardoso.
South Carolina's leading scorer, Joyce Edwards, earned to honors. Not only did Edwards earn a place on the SEC All-Freshman team, the forward from Camden, S.C. is First-Team All-SEC player. Edwards is averaging 13 points and 4.9 rebounds per game off the bench. He status as a First-Team All-SEC player as a freshman puts her in elite company, joining A'ja Wilson and Aliyah Boston as the only Gamecocks ever to pull off the feat.
Paopao earned Second-Team All-SEC honors for the second year in a row after another solid season, leading the starters in scoring with 10.2 points per gme as South Carolina's three-point sharpshooter.
Johnson and Feagin made South Carolina the only team to have two players on the All-SEC Defensive Team. Johnson sets the press as the starting point guard averaging 1.5 steals and 0.5 blocks per game, and Feagin has anchored the post defense 1.6 blocks and 0.7 steals per game.
South Carolina starts its postseason run on Friday at the SEC Tournament, with a noon tip-off against one of Vanderbilt, Tennessee or Texas A&M.
