Frank Martin, Dawn Staley receive extensions

Each fresh off historic seasons, South Carolina men's basketball coach Frank Martin and women's basketball coach Dawn Staley, received new contracts that were approved by the Board of Trustees Friday afternoon.

“Not only did Frank Martin and Dawn Staley lead their teams to record-setting seasons, but through their leadership, teaching and development of student-athletes, they have established highly successful all-around college basketball programs,” Athletics Director Ray Tanner said in a statement. “I believe that through the core principle of growing the student-athlete experience, Frank and Dawn are set for continued success in their programs for years to come.”

Martin, who led South Carolina to its first-ever Final Four in the sport this season, a landed one-year extension through the 2023 season, which will increase until he earns $3.3 million in its final year.

Martin previously signed a four-year extension last April which lasted until the 2022 season.

Staley, who led the Gamecocks to the school's first ever national title in the sport, received a four-year extension through the 2025 season.

Tanner received a three-year contract extension of his own through June 30, 2022. Tanner will make $1 million per year during the final three years of that contract.

Five assistant football coaches -- Bobby Bentley, Coleman Hutzler, Mike Peterson, Lance Thompson and Pat Washington -- and stength coach Jeff Dillman received extensions to their one-year contracts.
