Sylvania (Ga.) Screven County three-star wide receiver Tyquan Johnson earned an offer from South Carolina last month and wasted little time in pledging to the Gamecocks on Saturday at the Spurs Up recruiting event.

The 6-foot-3, 195-pound receiver chooses South Carolina over Mississippi State and West Virginia, among others.

The class of 2018 prospect named South Carolina as his leader following last month's camp when he ran a 4.5-second 40-yard dash. He credited his long-standing relationship with co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Bryan McClendon at the time.

"It was good being coached by Coach McClendon and (Will) Muschamp," Johnson said. "It was real good. That's (McClendon) my guy right there. He's straightforward, cool, honest, awesome. He's strives for me to be the best person I can be."

Johnson is the No. 14 commit to South Carolina's 2018 class.
