Irmo standout pledges to South Carolina

The South Carolina football program added its sixth public commitment in the past week when Irmo (S.C.) safety/linebacker Nick Emmanwori announced his pledge to the Gamecocks Thursday night.

The local standout actually gave his pledge to head coach Shane Beamer last Wednesday night but elected to keep it silent until his Twitter reveal on Thursday.

South Carolina became the first Power 5 school to offer the local prospect after the 6-foot-3, 200-pound turned in impressive measurables in the 40-yard-dash, vertical leap and broad jump at camp last month and was also impressive during the 1-on-1s.

After earning the offer from South Carolina, Emmanwori and his family visited campus again the following week to get a more in-depth view of the program.

A versatile playmaker, Emmanwori could play safety, nickel or grow into a linebacker at the next level.

In nine games as a junior he collected 100 Tackles, eight TFLs, two interceptions, a forced fumble and three sacks.

Emmanwori is the 13th public commitment in the Gamecocks' 2022 class so far. There are still two silent commitments that have not yet been revealed.
