South Carolina DB lands national recognition

South Carolina junior college transfer cornerback Jamarcus King has been a bright spot on an improved Gamecocks defense this season.

King, who played the last two seasons at Coffeyville Community College, has steadily improved during his seven games in a garnet and black uniform, and his performance this past weekend landed him national recognition.

Pro Football Focus grades out the performance of every player in the country each week and King landed on PFF's national Team of the Week for his effort in the Gamecocks' 34-28 victory over UMass.

"King got his hands on two passes while knocking a third one free, and didn’t allow a catch on his five targets against UMass," the article reads.

King's rating of 93.1 (out of 99.9) was second in the country among cornerbacks only to North Texas' Eric Jenkins' 95.1. A score in the 90s is considered to be "elite" on PFF's scale.

South Carolina senior linebacker T.J. Holloman landed on the SEC list for Week 8 with a score of 87.8.
