Where current Gamecocks, signees sit in draft rankings

In a week, South Carolina will know a lot more about where their 2021 recruiting class stands.

The MLB Draft begins July 11 at 7 p.m. with the first round followed by two more days of coverage, and over the three days the Gamecocks could have a lot of current and future players hear their names called.

Before that, though, it's time to take a look at some prospect rankings and where Gamecocks—both guys on the current team and in the 2021 class—sit a week out.

Of the three updated prospect rankings, three players on the current roster land on each one: Thomas Farr, Brady Allen and Julian Bosnic.

Farr is the highest-rated of the three coming in at No. 107 on Baseball America's, 137 for PerfectGame and MLB Pipeline slotting him at No. 140. Allen's highest rating is PerfectGame's 170 followed by Baseball America at 176 and MLB Pipeline at 194.

Bosnic's ranking fluctuates some, ranked as high as No. 188 (MLB Pipeline) to No. 338 by PerfectGame. Baseball Amercia's evaluation is similar to MLB's with him at No. 192.

Other Gamecocks who cracked these prospect rankings include: Brannon Jordan, who checks in at No. 184 in Baseball America and 280 by PerfectGame; Wes Clarke, No. 247 by BA and 286 by PG and Andrew Peters, who checks in at No. 417 by PerfectGame and 457 by Baseball America.

Every current member of the roster was a pivotal member of this year's team with Farr and Jordan starters all year, Bosnic a starter to begin the year but transitioned into a key bullpen arm, Peters another go-to reliever and Allen and Clarke two of the guys who paced the Gamecocks' offense; Allen hitting leadoff and Clarke finishing with 23 home runs, second all time in a season at South Carolina.

From the recruiting class side of things, infielder Cooper Kinney continues his surge up draft boards. The left-handed bat is ranked as high as No. 54 (PerfectGame) with Baseball America slotting him at 70 and MLB Pipeline at 84.

The No. 84 pick in the draft this year comes with a $721,900 signing bonus.

Shortstop and right-handed pitcher Michael Braswell is the next highest-rated member of the class, coming in at No. 112 by Baseball America, 135 by Perfect Game and 151 on MLB Pipeline.

Junior college pitcher Hunter Parks also lands on all three list, getting put as high as No. 187 by PerfectGame. MLB Pipeline slots him in at 239 while Baseball America has him at 433.

Two other Gamecock signees appear on two rankings: outfielder Thad Ector at No. 327 by Baseball America and 356 on Perfect Game and infielder Vytas Valincius, coming in at No. 456 by PerfectGame and No. 481 on Baseball America.

PerfectGame also ranks catcher Cole Messina (346) and outfielder Elijah Lambros (382) while junior college righty Andrew Baker lands at 388 by Baseball America.
