Alonzo Horton names his top six schools

New Orleans (La.) Abramson’s Alonzo Horton is one of the top prospects in the state of Louisiana. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound linebacker/defensive end has over 15 scholarship offers and believes he has more on the way. As a junior, Horton played defensive end and outside linebacker and racked up some impressive statistics. He totaled 95 tackles, including 75 solo stops, 32 tackles-for-loss and 23 sacks. He also blocked five kicks and forced two fumbles.
His play as a junior has led to offers from some very impressive schools.

“I’ve gotten a lot of offers,” Horton said. “Some of the schools I know of are Auburn, Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina, Alabama, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Michigan State, North Carolina and Alabama. I’m also interested in schools like Miami, LSU and UCLA.”
Rivals.com currently has Horton rated No. 13 outside linebacker in the nation and the No. 6 overall prospect in the state of Louisiana for this year.
Horton says he hasn’t given too much thought to recruiting this summer, but does have a top six.
“I would say my top six schools are Auburn, LSU, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee and Miami,” he said. “I like those six because they all put defensive ends into the NFL and they have great football atmospheres. They also all have my major, which is going to be criminal justice.”
In terms of a timeframe on his decision, Horton says he plans to take his time and enjoy the process.
“I haven’t been able to talk to many coaches this summer, but I want to go to a lot of college games and feel the atmosphere of each stadium,” he said. “Then I want to take all the visits I’m allowed to and just enjoy the process. I want to go wherever is best for me because I have to live with my decision for four years.”
As for which schools stand out the most in his top six, Horton says two have jumped to the forefront.
“Right now, I would say Auburn and LSU are my top two schools,” he said. “But I’m nowhere close to making a decision. Everyone will know on signing day.”
