The day is here.
For the first time in over a decade, the South Carolina men's basketball team will be selected to the NCAA tournament Sunday evening, according to all of the major tournament bracketology projections.
Despite a slow finish to the season, according to those projections, the Gamecocks are firmly in the tournament, which will be officially announced during the selection show at 5:30 tonight on CBS.
The latest Sunday projection from ESPN.com's Joe Lunardi has South Carolina as a No. 8 seed facing No. 9 Oklahoma State in Salt Lake City. Gonzaga is the No. 1 seed in that region.
In CBS Sports' Jerry Palm's projections, the Gamecocks are a No. 9 seed facing No. 8 Northwestern in Buffalo, with No. 1 Villanova in the same region.
BracketMatrix.com, which averages 126 different projections, giving more weight to the ones that have been more historically accurate, has the Gamecocks as an average 8.53 seed. All 126 brackets have South Carolina in the tournament.
South Carolina is 22-10 (12-6 SEC regular season) with an RPI of 43.
