Former No. 46: Linebacker Patrick Hinton
The late Patrick Hinton is eighth on the South Carolina all-time career tackles list with 328 after leading the team in stops during his junior and seniors seasons.
A Lakeshore High graduate from Atlanta, Ga., Hinton played for the Gamecocks from 1986-90 and had 108 tackles in 1989 and 109 tackles in 1990. Hinton also had eight career interceptions, including three in one game.
Nicknamed the "Hit man," due to his bruising style, Hinton went on to play for Winnipeg in the Canadian Football League.
Hinton died in 2004 of a pulmonary embolism at just 35-years old.
