There's another Latta (S.C.) High standout from the Stanley family tree who is officially on the recruiting radar.

Class of 2019 athlete Deonte Stanley, who is the younger brother of South Carolina offensive lineman Donell Stanley, landed his first offer from SC State last week and is receiving interest from several others.

"SC State is a great program with old school football offensively," Stanley said. "They started recruiting me last year during the playoff season. They came to look at one of the seniors and noticed me. Coach Harrison is my recruiter."

Given his connection to the program, the younger Stanley is very familiar with South Carolina, though he's a different type athlete than his brother.

At 6-foot-2, 190-pounds, Deonte Stanley plays wide receiver and defensive back.

"I camped (at South Carolina) twice and visited many times because of visiting my brother and liked it every time," Stanley "They are recruiting me as a DB which I like playing and Coach T-Rob (Travaris Robinson) is great. He says I'm laid back and quiet like Donell and says he's gotta get me out of that. USC is also in the SEC and very close to home. Coach (Will) Muschamp has them back in the national spotlight."

Stanley gave his thoughts on each of the other schools recruiting him.

North Carolina: "I visited there for junior day in April and I had a great time. Coach (Deke) Adams is my recruiter and they are recruiting me as a WR. They throw the ball a lot and it's close to home. Great ACC school."

Clemson: "I camped there last year and had a great time. Coming off a national championship is huge and definitely sticks out about them. They throw the ball a lot and share it among all the WR. Coach (Robbie) Caldwell is my recruiter and they are recruiting me as a WR."

Virginia Tech: "I camped there this summer and started out as a WR and switched to DB during the middle of camp to get more reps and they loved me at that position. VA Tech is probably showing the most interest out of all the schools. I liked their campus and my favorite player attended school there (Michael Vick). He's the reason I wear #7. Powerhouse ACC school. Coach (James) Shibest is my recruiter."

Old Dominion: "I visited their campus on my spring break this year and liked it a lot. Great school in a great location. They also throw the ball a lot and are recruiting me as a WR."

Georgia State: "I visited them for junior day this year and enjoyed myself. They are doing some great things down there and Coach Elliott will work them hard. Coach Ced (Cedric Williams) is my recruiter and they are recruiting me as a DB."

Stanley, who could play receiver or defensive back at the next level, is taking the process slowly.

"I don't have any leaders as of right now, they all have great things about them that I like," Stanley said. "I will visit them all this fall for a game and hopefully some junior days. I don't have anything set in stone right now. I'm really focused now on getting bigger, stronger and faster and helping my current team to do well this year."

Stanley says he will look at tradition, academics, campus environment and placement of players at the next level when choosing a school.
