The Spring Valley High guard was on campus at South Carolina over the weekend with his family. GamecockCentral.com caught up with Dozier's father Sunday evening to get a recap of the visit.
"It was a good visit; a very typical official visit," Dozier Sr. said. "I think there's a perception out there that we've already seen it all since we live close by, but we haven't."
"We toured the campus and one of the things that impressed P.J. and myself was the number of new buildings. P.J. is interesting in majoring in business so we were very impressed with the new multi-million dollar business building. The campus certainly has undergone an amazing transformation since I went there."
Aside from touring campus and checking out the academics offered by the university, the Dozier family spent plenty of time over the weekend gaining more familiarity with the basketball program.
"We had the chance to be around the players and the coaches for an extending amount of time," said Dozier Sr. "We were able to get to know them better."
"The vibe we got from the coaching staff was great," he said. "They emphasized how he could come in and help change the face of the program. It's been some time since the program has received a lot of notoriety.
"P.J. enjoyed hearing how he could make an immediate impact. They talked about how he could bring an excitement and fill the seats in the Colonial Life Arena. Coach Martin told P.J. that he wasn't recruiting him because of his last name. He's recruiting him because of the type of person P.J. is and the type of player he is. It was all very impressive to hear."
The Dozier family will take one final visit to Louisville this coming weekend before ending the recruiting process.
"He's never once told me he's too worn out from this process," Dozier Sr. said. "He's always wanted to take all five visits to get all the information he needs to make the best decision."
"After this weekend we will sit down as a family and go through the check list together. All five are great schools. We are looking to find out what separates one school from the other four. He will then decide where he feels most comfortable."
An announcement will be aired on the ESPN Network during the early signing period which begins Nov. 12.
