Saturday on a return visit to campus, the 6-foot-4, 275-pound prospect got the news he had been looking for when the Gamecocks became the first program to offer.
"I'm so happy right now," Douglas said Saturday. "I kind of expected it when I came in. I came in and I showed out at the camp a little bit. I loved the campus. This is my dream school. This is a good dream offer. I can't stop smiling right now. It's an honor, but I've got to stay humble, keep working, and go back to Charlotte and help get a three-peat. I'm just happy, blessed."
Douglas is being recruited to Carolina by offensive line coach Shawn Elliott.
"He's great, he's great. He's different. Some of the other people, it's like they're fake with it. He's down to earth with it. He's a great person to talk to, a great instructor."
"I said when I got the offer, I was going to commit on the spot," Douglas said. "But Coach Elliot told me to go home, think about it. I'm just blessed man."
Since picking up the offer on Saturday, Douglas added an offer from Clemson on Sunday.
Douglas, who has the Gamecocks out front, originally planned to make a quick decision, but has since decided to wait it out.
