Dunlap staying patient

North Charleston (S.C.) Fort Dorchester four-star defensive end Carlos Dunlap was physically one of the most impressive looking prospects to attend the High School Sports Report's media day held at Williams-Brice Stadium over the weekend. Thus far, the 6-foot-6, 240-pound Dunlap has spent his summer focusing on a combination of things.
"Lifting weights, talking with my coaches to see what I need to do next year to get through the clearinghouse," Dunlap said. "So far it's looking pretty good. I'm taking one class this summer, and I'm doing really well."

Dunlap, who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds, has also taken a few unofficial visits.
"I took a visit to Georgia, and I've been to USC a couple of times. I'm going to Florida for Friday Night Lights this coming weekend, and then Clemson will probably be sometime after that."
Dunlap finds multiple aspects of the Gamecock program.
"Coach Spurrier. He definitely has my attention. I also like coach (Brad) Lawing. He's smart. He knows how to coach his position."
Dunlap also enjoyed his trip to Athens earlier this summer.
"Georgia is all about football and hard work. It's a nice place."
Clemson and Florida round out the list of schools Dunlap commented on.
"Clemson has strong fan support, and I like how the city is laid out. Florida always has a lot of speed on defense. I also like their stadium and that Urban Meyer has sent me text messages."
He will base his decision on three primary factors.
"Academics, fan support and location."
When it comes time to make his decision, Dunlap knows who he will rely on for help.
"My dad, my mom, coach (Steve) LePrad and (Fort Dorchester junior linebacker) Robert Quinn. Robert wants to go where I go, so I'll discuss my final decision with him."
No teams currently stand out to Dunlap.
"I don't have any favorites because I haven't narrowed my list yet. I'm not sure yet when I'll decide."
