SOUTH CAROLINA GAMECOCKS FOOTBALL RECRUITING
With over 40 scholarship offers to his name, four-star wide receiver Michael Wyman has whittled it down to one: South Carolina.
The Greensboro (N.C.) Dudley class of 2020 standout committed to the Gamecocks Tuesday during a ceremony at his school.
"I would say the facilities, the strength and conditioning coach, coach (Will) Muschamp, coach B-Mac (Bryan McClendon) have been recruiting me from day one," Wyman told Rivals. "They already have their 2020 quarterback and some other big playmakers already coming in and that played a big role in it too."
The 6-foot-4, 197-pounder, one of the most highly recruited receivers in the nation, chose the Gamecocks over an offer list that included Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Oklahoma.
Wyman and McClendon hit it off early and he also likes the way the Gamecocks' offensive coordinator and receivers coach wants to use him in the offense.
"That's been my dude since Day 1," Wyman said. "I know he's a family man. That's one of the people that my mom trusts."
Wyman last visited Columbia for the Gamecocks' spring game a couple of weekends ago, one of multiple visits to the school that he's taken in the last year. He'll be back on campus again April 26.
Ranked the No. 34 wide receiver in his class, Wyman is the second receiver commit in the Gamecocks' 2020 class joining fellow state of North Carolina wide receiver Da'Qon Stewart. Wyman is ranked the No. 174 overall prospect in the country and the No. 9 prospect in North Carolina.
“I’ll probably help recruit another receiver," said Wyman. "Me and Da’Qon Stewart are the only two receivers that are committed right now so I think there is one spot left. We’ll help recruit whoever the coaches want."
Wyman is South Carolina's fifth commitment to the 2020 class.
