South Carolina is losing its starting first baseman to the transfer portal.
David Mendham has entered, GamecockCentral has confirmed, marking the second starting infielder to do so.
Mendham, who spent one season at South Carolina after starting in junior college, slashed .243/.320/.381 with 28 RBI this season. He started 52 games this year as the first option at first base.
Along with Mendham, Brennan Milone, Jeff Heinrich, Magdiel Cotto, Brandon Fields, Travis Luensmann, Josh Shuler, Michael Robinson, Sam Swygert and Noah Myers have all entered the portal over.
Of those, only Mendham, Milone and Heinrich played heavy roles on this year's team.
The Gamecocks have also landed two transfer portal commitments this offseason in App State transfer pitcher Noah Hall and utility player Brandt Belk out of Missouri.
