Gamecocks in pro baseball: June 27-July 4

Jackie Bradley Jr.'s All-Star season with Boston continues this week. The outfielder went 7-for-29 (.241) with two doubles, seven runs scored and four RBIs. He's hitting .294 so far this season. He was named to his first All-Star game Tuesday.

Steve Pearce (Tampa Bay) was placed on the 15-Day Disabled List and has not played since June 20.

Justin Smoak (Toronto) batted in four games for the Blue Jays going 2-for-16(.125). Both his were home runs and he finishes the week with two runs scored and three RBIs. His batting average is hovering at .234.

Sam Dyson had three appearances as the closer for Texas, picking up two saves and blowing one. He threw 2.1 innings and didn't give up a run in two outings. He gave up four in the blown save. Dyson now has 17 saves on the year.

Michael Roth, who was recently called up to Texas, was roughed up in his first outing for the Rangers. He went 3.2 innings giving up six earned runs on 10 hits. He walked one and struck out three.

Whit Merrifield went 7-for-33 (.212) with Kansas City with eight runs and two RBIs. He's hitting .301 since he was called up to the majors.

Triple-A

Bryan Harper had three appearances for the Syracuse Chiefs (Washington), throwing 4.1 innings, giving up three hits and four earned runs. He struck out three batters and went 0-1 in those three appearances.

Christian Walker went 6-for-17 (.353) for the Norfolk Tides (Baltimore) with a home run and four RBIs.

Tyler Webb had two appearances for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRaiders (Yankees). He went three innings, with one hit and no earned runs allowed. His ERA is down to 4.13.

Double-A

Evan Marzilli went 11-for-31 (.355) for the Mobile BayBears (Arizona) with four runs and two RBIs. He's hitting .294 since being demoted to Double-A.

Jordan Montgomery started two games for the Trenton Thunder (Yankees), winning both games. He went 10.1 innings allowing a combined seven hits and no earned runs. He struck out eight and improved to 3-3 on the year.

Grayson Greiner went 7-for-18 (.389) with the Erie SeaWolves (Detroit) with four runs scored, a home run and five RBIs. He's hitting .333 since being promoted.

Evan Beal had two appearances for the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (Kansas City) going 4.1 innings with no earned runs on three hits. He struck out three and has an ERA of 2.78.

Joel Seddon started one game for the Midland RockHounds (Oakland) going seven innings and allowing no earned runs on seven hits. He earned the win and improves to 2-4 on the season.

Advanced A

Kyle Martin went 9-for-29 (.310) for the Clearwater Threshers (Philadelphia) with six runs scored and seven RBIs.

Jack Wynkoop was promoted to the Modesto Nuts from the Asheville Tourists. He had one start this week going 5.2 innings and allowing three earned runs on six hits. He also struck out nine batters.

LB Dantzler went 0-for-14 with the Dunedin Blue Jays (Toronto).

Max Schrock was promoted from the Hagerstown Suns to the Potomac Nationals. He's on a tear now, batting .516 (16-for-31) in Advanced A with a home run and five RBIs.

Joey Pankake went 5-for-23 for the Lakeland Tigers (Detroit) with two runs, a homer and two RBIs.

Tanner English remains on the Fort Meyers Miracle (Minnesota) disabled list. He last played April 19.

Short Season

Taylor Widener had two appearances for the Staten Island Yankees (Yankees). He's pitched three innings and still hasn't allowed a hit or a run.

Dom Thompson-Williams has gone 9-for-46 (.196) with the Staten Island Yankees (Yankees) with seven runs scored, three RBIs and three stolen bases.

Gene Cone is 14-for-54 with the Brooklyn Cyclones (Mets) with five runs and five RBIs.

Braden Webb has not made an appearance for the AZL Brewers (Milwaukee).

Rookie League

Marcus Mooney is 11-for-40 (.275) for the Danville Braves (Atlanta) with eight runs scored, two RBIs and two extra-base hits.
