Gamecocks in the Pros: Sept. 12-20

MLB

--Jackie Bradley Jr. wetn 9-for-28 (.321) for Boston with four runs and four RBIs. He also had two home runs this week as the Red Sox cling to a four-game lead in the AL East.

--Steve Pearce underwent season-ending forearm surgery Sept. 13 that will sideline him for four to six months. This will affect his offseason opportunities because he is a free agent and teams could opt not to sign him. In his lone game this week he went 0-for-3 with Baltimore.

--Justin Smoak went 0-for-3 with Toronto. He played in five games but only hit in three.

--Sam Dyson made three appearances for Texas, blowing one save but picking up two wins and a save. He gave up just one run—a home run—on five hits in four innings pitched while striking out two.

--Whit Merrifield went 10-for-34 (.294) with Kansas City with five runs and four RBIs.

Triple-A

--Jordan Montgomery had a rough outing in the playoffs for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Yankees), pitching just 0.2 innings and giving up three earned runs on six hits. He rebounded in the Triple-A championship game, pitching five innings and giving up just one run on six hits. He struck out five and was credited with the win as the RailRiders won the title.

--Tyler Webb made two appearances for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Yankees), pitching three perfect innings and striking out five.

Double-A

--Joel Seddon started one game for the Midland RockHounds (Oakland), pitching six innings and giving up three earned runs on four hits. He struck out six and picked up the win. His team was eliminated in that round, however, and he finished his 2016 season with a 9-9 record and a 4.50 ERA.

--Max Schrock went 4-for-18 .222 with the Midland RockHounds (Oakland) with two runs and a RBI. He finishes this playing for three teams and two organizations. He hit .331 total with 79 runs and 71 RBIs.

--Evan Beal pitched twice for the Northwest Arkansas Naturals (Kansas City), totaling 3.1 shutout innings where he gave up one hit. He was eliminated from the playoffs and finishes with a 3-2 record, two saves and a 3.33 ERA.
