Gamecocks nab 2018 outfielder

South Carolina baseball added an outfielder to its 2018 class with Dillon Lifrieri verbally commiting to the Gamecocks Tuesday.

Lifrieri, from Wilton (Conn.) High School, is ranked the No. 2 overall prospect in Connecticut and the top outfielder in the state for his class.

He visited campus Sunday where he toured the facilities and watched some of the Gamecocks' scrimmage. The coaches offered him that day.

After the visit he was very impressed with the program before committing two days later.

Lifrieri is the tenth commitment for the 2018 class and the first true outfielder; however, he told the coaches he is willing to play anywhere. He said he can play both the infield and outfield.
