This came just a few weeks after Tanner announced he had plans to look into retiring more jerseys.

Softball pitcher Trinity Johnson will have her jersey retired before South Carolina's April 6 game at Beckham Field against Alabama. The former pitcher played from 1995-1997 and was a three-time All-American and 1996 National Player of the Year.

Former track standouts Terrance Trammel and Miki Barber will each be honored before a South Carolina track and field event on April 13.The two combined for 33 All-American awards and Trammel won silver medals in the 110 m hurdles at the 2000 and 2004 Olympics. Each are members of the USC Letterman's Hall of Fame.

Former baseball pitcher Earl Bass (1972-1975) will have his jersey retired posthumously prior to South Carolina's May 4 game against Vanderbilt. Bass holds school records for career record (34-3), ERA (1.34) and shutouts (10). He lost a long battle with cancer last February.

Bass becomes just the second Gamecock baseball player to have his number retired, joining Ray Tanner.

"These outstanding individuals deserve to be recognized by having their jerseys retired at the University of South Carolina," Tanner said. "When athletes, coaches and fans walk into our venues, they'll know who set the stage for Gamecock successes. Honoring our history is something I feel strongly about, and I look forward to having more jersey retirements for years to come."
