Groves placed on medical hardship

South Carolina redshirt junior defensive back Ali Groves has been placed on a medical hardship scholarship, GamecockCentral.com has learned.

Groves, who has not played in a game at South Carolina, has seen his entire career plagued by injury.

As a junior in high school, the Stone Mountain, Ga. native had his season cut short by a fracture in his neck. Groves was limited during both the 2013 and 2014 season with a shoulder injury.

Groves again saw his spring practice cut short by a concussion earlier this year.

Groves was a a two-time member of the SEC Fall Academic Honor Roll and is on track to graduate in December from USC.
