Spartanburg (S.C.) wide receiver/defensive back Markish Jones is one of the fastest prospects the Palmetto State has to offer in its class of 2007. He currently has four offers on the table, and hopes to add another one to his list today.

"I have offers from North Carolina, Kentucky, East Carolina and Marshall," the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Jones said. "I'm going to South Carolina (today) to work out for them (at their summer camp), and they're supposed to decide if they're going to offer me or not. Clemson and Tennessee are also telling me they're going to offer me this week."
Jones, whose career best time in the 100 meters is 10.52, hopes to impress the South Carolina coaches with his abilities.
"I'd like to play wide receiver in college, and I know Steve Spurrier has a big-time offensive system there now," he said. "They throw the ball a lot and get it down field, so that has them high on my list right now."
Florida State and North Carolina also rate highly on Jones' list.
"Florida State is nationally ranked just about every year, and they're usually in the top ten. They have a good background of putting out good wide receivers. North Carolina is a rising program, and if I go there I think I'd have a good chance of playing early."
Jones, who ran the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds at the Clemson NIKE Camp, liked what he found while on campus.
"They have a pretty campus at Clemson, and their new West Zone project looks like it's going to be really nice, too."
Jones will base his decision on three primary factors.
"I haven't decided on a major yet, but academics will be a big deal for me. I also want to go to a school with a nice campus, and I want to play in a good offense if I play wide receiver in college."
Three teams currently stand out the most to Jones.
"South Carolina, Tennessee and Clemson are my top three. They're pretty much even in my mind. I'd like to wait until after my season to commit so that I know what all of my options are."
