After a dominant performance against Vanderbilt, Javon Kinlaw pulled in a big conference honor.

The junior defensive tackle was named Co-SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week, the conference announced Monday along with Alabama's Isaiah Buggs.

Kinlaw finished Saturday's double-digit win over Vanderbilt tied for second on the team with five tackles, including a team-best three tackles for loss. He also had two sacks for 18 yards and forced two fumbles.

He had both of the Gamecocks' sacks and led the team, as they had eight tackles for loss and held the Commodores to just 14 points.

“He was very disruptive,” Will Muschamp said after the game. “We tried to create as many singles as we can in protection. When he gets singled up, he should win. that’s what we expect.”

It's the first conference honor for the Gamecocks this season and Kinlaw's the second South Carolina defensive lineman to win that award over the last two seasons; D.J. Wonnum won it twice last year.

The Gamecocks beat Vanderbilt 37-14 Saturday in their first game in two weeks, using a dominant effort from Kinlaw and the defensive line to stifle Vanderbilt's offense the majority of the game.

According to PFF, Kinlaw graded out at 97.1, the highest grade of any player in the country this weekend.

Up next for the Gamecocks (2-1, 1-1 SEC) is a road test against Kentucky kicking off at 7:30 p.m. on the SEC Network. Carolina then returns home for a three-game set at Williams-Brice in October.
