FSU commit Rosendo Louis flips to Gamecocks

South Carolina's persistent pursuit of linebacker Rosendo Louis, Jr. paid off.

Louis, a 6-foot-3, 235-pound three-star linebacker from Deerfield Beach (Fla.), flipped his commitment from Florida State to South Carolina Wednesday to sign with the Gamecocks.

"I actually didn't have a relationship with any FSU coaches after they changed the coaching staff and I've been having a relationship with Coach Muschamp and T-Rob since my junior year and that was really it," Louis said.

Louis is fresh off an official visit to Columbia over the weekend and will enroll at South Carolina in January.

While that official visit went well, Louis said it didn't play a huge role in his decision.

"Not at all," Louis explained. "Because I've been there like four or five times [before]."

Louis had been pledged to the Seminoles since August, but had received strong early interest from Carolina defensive coordinator Travaris Robinson, and the exit of former FSU head coach Jimbo Fisher opened the door for Louis to take another hard look at the Gamecocks.

"He's a sideline-to-sideline guy that plays with a lot of confidence," Deerfield Beach head coach Jevon Glenn told Rivals following Louis' initial commitment. "We've worked a lot on his footwork this year, and the thing with Louis is he hasn't done that much 7-on-7 stuff. He's the type of guy that is explosive, but he stands out the most when the pads are on."

Louis is the second linebacker in the Gamecocks' class, joining fellow early enrollee Ernest Jones.
