Maddox enjoys USC spring game

Anderson (S.C.) T.L. Hanna running back Brian Maddox, the top running back prospect the Palmetto State has to offer in the class of 2007, was on hand for South Carolina's annual Garnet and Black Spring Game over the weekend, and the visit did nothing but reinforce the Gamecocks' lead for his services.
"It was great," the 6-foot, 215-pound Maddox said. "I took the ACT that morning, so I got there a little late. When me and my family came through the tunnel, the game was going on and a lot of fans started chanting my name. They were saying things like, 'Come to USC, Brian' so that was pretty cool."

Maddox, who runs the 40-yard dash in 4.48 seconds, took the halftime break as an opportunity to visit with some of USC's coaches.
"I talked to Coach (Robert) Gillespie, Coach (Fred) Chatham and Coach (Steve) Spurrier," Maddox said. "We just talked about a lot of general stuff, and they told me a little bit about how they were going use their running backs in the second half."
Maddox also enjoyed the time he spent with some of his fellow recruits.
"I sat with Quintin Richardson, Gary Gray, Cliff Matthews, Dontrelle Inman and Stephen Garcia. We just hung out a little bit. It's always good to get to know a lot of those guys better."
This weekend Maddox will turn his attention to the Sunshine State.
"I'm going to Florida on Friday and Florida State on Saturday. I want to get a good feel for their campuses and see how big the towns are. I also want to see their facilities and their stadiums."
Maddox, who bench presses 325 pounds, actually grew up a Clemson fan, is also close to finalizing his announcement plans.
"I'll know for sure where I'm going on my birthday (May 28th), but I probably won't announce it until Friday, June 2nd because my that's when Coach (Scott) Parker gets back in town. USC is still my leader by a pretty good margin."
